Alicia's ISPO for end of spring semester/beginning of summer semester

This semester I produced seven paintings. Out of those seven only 5 are "finished".  I say finished because I only have to tweek a couple of things here and there in some of them.  Because of the details involved with each painting, as well as the size, I did not achieve my set goal of finishing six. Each painting involves a lot of thought. Every one of them is full of meaning and everything has to be there for a reason. Which is why it became harder and harder to finish the other one to complete my goal of having six.  I do not regret it though, I prefer quality over quantity. he two paintings that are unfinished are much bigger than the other five.  I have also gotten ahead with my thesis. I have about 12 pages on chapter one and I am now on my second one with influences.  I have already had to rewrite and rearrange my thesis like four times. And from what I hear, there are waaaay more to come. I also entered a poster contest. So all in all I think it was a good semester.  I feel that my research and my paintings are becoming stronger and more cohesive.

I will be coming in my studio during the summer and working on the two unfinished paintings as well as three others.  I want to have in all 5 paintings. However if I choose to go bigger...maybe just three. (Quality over quantity). I think it is doable since I don't have classes I need to attend to and most of my other "duties" will end this week. I will be researching more artists, and adding to my "Influences" chapter in my thesis which is proving to be the hardest one to write...so far.  I will be asking professors to come and look at my work and critique it, as well as my fellow MFA colleagues :)  I am very excited about the summer. I have a good feeling about this summer....:)  anyways, here are some images of the paintings this semester that I haven't already posted.

"Abré Puertas Donde Esten Cerradas/ Open Doors When They Are Closed" (AKA: Give us a way out)

"Al Que Madruga Dios Le Ayuda/ God Helps Those Who Wake Up Early" (AKA: The Early Bird Gets The Worm)

"La Mazorca De Maíz/ The Corncob"

"Ponte En Mis Zapatos/ Put Yourself In My Shoes"
